Application

Positions:

*Part-time/ Seasonal Sales Associate

Seeking a motivated individual to perform daily sales operations in fast-paced gift shop. Must exhibit out-going personality, and like interacting with visitors.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Greeting visitors
  • Operating the cash register
  • Assisting customers
  • Receiving products & pricing products
  • Stocking
  • Cleaning
  • Some lifting
  • Standing for periods of time
  • Other responsibilities as they arise
 
*Must be able to work a flexible schedule, i.e. evenings, days, weekends and some holidays.

          Basic typing skills, and knowledge of using a computer, and programs such as Word and Excel is preferred.

** Job Type: Part-time/Seasonal (8-16 hours per week. Opportunity for increased hours during the spring & summer peak-season.)
*Part-time/Seasonal Maintenance
Seeking a motivated individual to perform daily maintenance operations in fast-paced museum & gift shop. Must exhibit out-going personality, leadership, and be able to work independently.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Janitorial duties - cleaning restrooms, removal of trash, cleaning floors, dusting, etc...
  • Maintenance - replacing light bulbs, painting, some basic  knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, and/or HVAC a plus! 
  • Unloading shipments 
  • Assisting with inventory - moving boxes, unpacking and checking in orders, organizing storage
  • Exterior work - in addition to the interior of the building - cleaning parking lot, removal of trash, and some yard work as needed, assist in snow removal in the winter months.
*Must be able to work on ladders, lift, and be able to go up and down stairs regularly.

**Must be able to work a flexible schedule, i.e. evenings, days, weekends and some holidays.

*Part-time Event Coordinator/Group Sales

We are looking for an experienced Event Coordinator/Group Sales Lead to assist with various groups utilizing the Gettysburg Heritage Center Complex. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Understand requirements for each event
  • Plan event with attention to financial and time constraints
  • Schedule speakers, authors, historians
  • Build group sales
  • Negotiate with vendors to achieve the most favorable terms
  • Manage all event operations (preparing venue, invitations etc.)
  • Do final checks at the day of the event (e.g. tables, technology) to ensure everything meets standards
  • Oversee event happenings and act quickly to resolve problems
  • Evaluate event’s success and submit reports

Skills
  • Proven experience as event coordinator
  • A proven track record of organizing successful events
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Excellent vendor management skills
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation ability
  • Well-organized with multi-tasking skills
  • Able to handle stress and remain calm
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Degree in hospitality management, public relations or relevant field is a plus

**Part-time position, but room for growth.
***Some weeks may require more than 20 hours.
